Elina Svitolina and Gaël Monfils Are Divorcing After Three Years of Marriage

Tennis stars Elina Svitolina and Gaël Monfils are ending their marriage after a three-year union. Svitolina shared the painful update publicly, pointing to the emotional strain caused by the ongoing conflict in her native Ukraine and her need to rediscover her personal path.

The pair first connected in 2019, got engaged in April 2021, and wed in Geneva, Switzerland, in July of that same year before welcoming their daughter Skai in October 2022.

Despite the breakup, Svitolina emphasized that both parents remain fully committed to raising their daughter together. She asked for privacy and consideration during this difficult period, noting that there is no antagonism between them and praising the backing Monfils provided throughout their time together.

Monfils recently wrapped up his professional playing career following more than two decades on the circuit, while Svitolina continues competing on the WTA Tour.
