Drinking at football matches - would fans welcome it?

UK politician Andy Burnham recently expressed support for eliminating restrictions that forbid spectators from consuming alcoholic beverages at their seats during soccer matches. Current regulations in England and Wales date back to the mid-1980s following crowd disturbances, while Scottish authorities have enforced a similar ban since the early 1980s.

Despite past legislative rejections, some competitions have begun easing these limits through successful trials, including tests in the Women's Super League and various Scottish tournaments. Meanwhile, league officials in England have expressed varying degrees of openness toward reviewing the existing legal framework.
