Drew Brees considered ending retirement to play for Broncos last season: Report

Newly minted Pro Football Hall of Famer Drew Brees nearly rejoined the gridiron late last season with the Denver Broncos. According to ESPN reporting, the veteran passer seriously weighed halting his post-career life during the postseason to execute an unexpected comeback under head coach Sean Payton.

Having stepped away from football following the 2020 campaign, Brees ultimately preserved his five-season waiting period and entered Canton as part of the 2026 class. Denver has since pressed forward under Payton, who views his current roster as a legitimate championship contender as he approaches the top ten in career NFL coaching victories.
