The Miami Dolphins entered Sunday’s Week 5 showdown against the Cincinnati Bengals already dealing with a significant injury setback, as four key players were ruled out for the game. Rookie wide receiver Caleb Douglas, who had shown early promise with seven catches for 113 yards in the team’s first two games, remains sidelined due to an ankle injury sustained in Week 2.
The loss of Douglas—one of three wideouts drafted in 2026—could test Miami’s depth at the position as the trio looks to develop chemistry. On defense, edge rusher Robert Beal Jr.
and cornerback Reese Taylor are also out with lingering injuries, while tight end Justin Joly was added to the injury report after suffering a concussion this week. Beal’s absence is particularly notable, as his return would have bolstered a pass rush that already recorded four sacks in the Dolphins’ last outing.
Meanwhile, Taylor’s absence leaves a void on special teams, where he had been active despite not seeing defensive snaps this season.
The Bengals, meanwhile, face their own uncertainty with star wide receivers Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins listed as questionable. Chase, who suffered a concussion in Week 4, returned to full practice on Friday but has yet to clear the NFL’s concussion protocol.
Higgins, dealing with groin and neck injuries, will likely warm up with the team to determine his availability. Cincinnati’s injury report also includes linebacker Swayze Bozeman (groin), safety Bryan Cook (ankle), and wide receiver Colbie Young (knee), all listed as questionable for Sunday’s matchup.
With both teams navigating injury concerns, the Dolphins’ ability to manage their roster without key contributors will be a critical factor in their performance against the Bengals.
