Detroit Tigers News: MLB proposes shortened regular season, Kevin McGonigle wins another award

Major League Baseball and the players union have initiated preliminary discussions regarding a shortened regular season as both parties prepare for upcoming collective bargaining negotiations. Meanwhile, the Detroit Tigers are undergoing significant staff changes, having dismissed head athletic trainer Ryan Eubanks, assistant athletic trainer Chris MacDonald, assistant pitching coach Juan Nieves, and first base coach Anthony Sanders following a season plagued by numerous non-contact injuries.

In postseason action, Jose Ramirez sparked a late rally for the Cleveland Guardians to force a decisive fifth game against the Chicago White Sox. Kevin McGonigle continues to receive accolades, earning the Baseball America 2026 Rookie of the Year honor for his well-rounded performance as a Tigers infielder.
