Purdue’s Big Ten hopes took a hit in a chaotic first half as the Boilermakers’ defense forced five turnovers but failed to capitalize on their opportunities. Washington’s offense, led by backup quarterback Elijah Brown, struck early with a touchdown after Purdue’s offense stalled on a fourth-and-goal attempt, handing the Huskies a 7-0 lead.
The Boilermakers’ defense, however, dominated the turnover battle with two interceptions—one by Hudauri Hines, who left the game on a stretcher after the play—and a recovered fumble on a muffed punt, the second such recovery for Purdue this season. Despite the defensive effort, Purdue’s offense struggled in the red zone, settling for a field goal after a turnover set them up inside Washington’s 10-yard line, and their lone touchdown came on a 60-yard run by Antonio Harris, the longest of the season, followed by a contested end-zone catch by Fame Ijeboi.
The defensive standout was Jojo Hayden, who recorded an interception, two quarterback hurries, and nine tackles, but Purdue’s inability to sustain drives and convert turnovers into points proved costly as Washington pulled away in the second half to win 38-26.
