The Detroit Red Wings' home struggles continued Friday night as they fell to a 6-3 defeat at the hands of the Seattle Kraken, despite dominating play early. Viktor Arvidsson gave Detroit an early lead with a key goal, but the Kraken capitalized on defensive lapses, scoring three times in a span of just over three minutes in the second period.
Frederick Gaudreau and Mackie Samoskevich were particularly lethal, while rookie William Wallinder added his first NHL goal to the tally. Goaltender John Gibson was pulled after allowing five goals on 14 shots, with Daniil Tarasov stepping in for relief but failing to stem the tide.
The loss drops Detroit to 1-3 on the season and last place in the Atlantic Division, compounded by injuries to forwards J.T. Compher, Marco Kasper, and Mason Appleton, as well as defenseman Simon Edvinsson’s absence due to a contract dispute.
Late scoring from Michael Brandsegg-Nygård provided a brief spark, but the damage was already done by then.
