The Milwaukee Brewers hold a 3-0 lead over the Los Angeles Dodgers in the best-of-seven National League Championship Series following a 6-2 victory in Game 3 on Wednesday night. The Brewers previously secured wins in Game 1 by a score of 2-1 and Game 2 by a score of 7-4.
With this latest result, the Los Angeles Dodgers are one loss away from elimination.
During the Game 3 defeat, Milwaukee hitters Jackson Chourio, Jake Bauers, and Garrett Mitchell hit home runs off Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Blake Snell. Following the contest, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts addressed the performance of the opposition.
Roberts stated, "I think they have more experience. They're really taking great at-bats.
They're taking better at-bats than they did last year." He further noted, "Their ball-in-play averages, gosh dang, it's got to be .400. When they put the ball in play, it's a hit.
They're also slugging, which they didn't do last year. Those are good combos." Regarding the defensive play of the Brewers, Roberts added, "Defensively they're everywhere and making plays, and it's hard for us to certainly create, build innings, and score.
Where I thought last year we did a better job of slugging and having those guys play from behind."
The Los Angeles Dodgers now face the challenge of overcoming a 3-0 deficit. Historically, teams that have taken a 3-0 lead in a best-of-seven series have won 41 of 42 matchups.
The only instance of a team overcoming a 3-0 deficit in MLB history occurred during the 2004 ALCS, when the Boston Red Sox defeated the New York Yankees. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts was a member of that 2004 Boston team.
Despite the current series deficit, Roberts expressed confidence in his roster's ability to respond. Regarding the possibility of a comeback, Roberts said, "It's certainly possible. I've lived it."
