Following his recent release from the Memphis Grizzlies, veteran guard D'Angelo Russell has officially decided to continue his professional career overseas. The thirty-year-old former second overall draft pick has agreed to terms with the Shanghai Sharks, the reigning champions of the China Basketball Association.
Russell previously dropped a subtle hint about the transition through a social media post featuring his young daughter speaking Mandarin.
During his time in the National Basketball Association, Russell suited up for several organizations including the Los Angeles Lakers, Brooklyn Nets, Golden State Warriors, Minnesota Timberwolves, and Dallas Mavericks. Across twenty-six appearances with Dallas last season, he contributed averages of 10.2 points, 4 assists, and 2.3 rebounds in roughly nineteen minutes per contest.
After a busy summer involving multiple franchise movements and a brief stop with the Washington Wizards, the former All-Star will now take his talents to the defending CBA titleholders.
