The Chicago Bears entered Week 5 with a significant injury setback, as several key players sat out Wednesday’s practice session. Running backs D’Andre Swift and Kyle Monangai were absent due to lingering hip/knee and thumb/toe issues, respectively, while quarterback Caleb Williams continued to manage a Grade 2 hamstring strain that has kept him out of action.
The team has already named Tyson Bagent as the starter in Williams’ absence, though the quarterback remains a week-to-week injury concern. Beyond the offensive unit, offensive linemen Jonah Jackson, Joe Thuney, and Darnell Wright also missed practice with ankle and pectoral injuries, further complicating Chicago’s depth challenges.
On defense, Grady Jarrett rested, while linebackers Keyshawn Elliott and Noah Sewell practiced with limited participation due to quad and Achilles injuries. Defensive lineman Shemar Turner and cornerbacks Kyler Gordon and Cam Lewis also dealt with knee, calf, and hip issues, though the latter two remained fully engaged in drills.
