Cowboys report card: Grading Week 1 vs. the Giants
The Dallas Cowboys began their 2026-27 campaign on a low note, suffering a 28-20 road defeat against their NFC East rivals, the New York Giants, during Sunday Night Football. Dallas encountered widespread problems in all phases of play, with substantial attention falling on defensive coordinator Christian Parker and his newly remodeled defensive system.
Opposing quarterback Jaxson Dart guided New York's offensive attack through the Cowboys' revamped secondary and exploited an unaddressed linebacker corps.
Individual stock reports highlighted major discrepancies across the Dallas roster. Running back Javonte Williams joined Parker among the team's notable letdowns, while Caleb Downs stood out as a bright spot despite the setback.
