Washington Commanders right guard Sam Cosmi, who sat out Week 4 after a concussion suffered in a collision with teammate Kaytron Allen, took a major step toward returning Thursday. Cosmi participated fully in practice and spoke to reporters afterward, strongly indicating he’ll suit up against the New York Giants this Sunday.
His absence has left the offensive line shorthanded, with rookie Matt Gulbin stepping in and struggling to replicate Cosmi’s impact. Meanwhile, the Commanders’ injury woes extend beyond the offensive line, as receivers Stefon Diggs and Terry McLaurin missed a second straight practice with hamstring issues, raising concerns about depth for Sunday’s matchup.
Safety Nick Cross also dropped from full to limited participation, while defensive end Charles Omenihu, linebacker Jacory Croskey-Merritt, and running back Rachaad White remain sidelined with various injuries. Guard Nick Allegretti continues to recover from hip and Achilles problems, and several other players—including Percy Butler, Tyler Owens, and Jayden Daniels—remain on the injured or physically unable to perform (PUP) lists after recent setbacks.
