The Kansas City Chiefs entered the second half of their game against the Los Angeles Chargers with a key change at right tackle after starting lineman Jaylon Moore was placed in concussion protocol before halftime. Moore’s absence forced the team to rely on backup Joshua Ezeudu, who had logged just three career snaps at right tackle prior to this season.
Ezeudu, a fifth-year veteran with experience primarily at left tackle and left guard, had already seen increased action in the preseason at right tackle and right guard, lining up 44 and 30 times respectively. His promotion came as left tackle Josh Simmons remained sidelined, leaving Ezeudu as the next available option after Kansas City acquired him and Diego Pounds before the regular season began.
The Chiefs’ offensive line adjustments came after a strong first half, which included a 50-yard field goal by Harrison Butker that put the team ahead 19-3 at the break.
