The Chicago Sky capped off a challenging 2026 WNBA season with a standout rookie performance from Sydney Taylor, who delivered a breakout year despite the team’s 11th-place finish and playoff miss. Taylor, who entered the league undrafted in 2024 and earned her roster spot through a training camp contract, averaged 13.6 points per game on 41.9% shooting, while also contributing 1.7 rebounds and 2.0 assists.
Her most memorable outing came in August, when she scored 29 points and hit a game-winning three-pointer at the buzzer against the Las Vegas Aces. Though she didn’t win Rookie of the Year—an award claimed by Minnesota Lynx guard Olivia Miles—Taylor was recognized as one of the league’s top newcomers, earning a spot on the 2026 WNBA All-Rookie Team alongside Miles, Azzi Fudd, Flau’jae Johnson, Pauline Astier, and Kiki Rice.
The Sky organization celebrated her achievement, calling it a well-deserved honor for a player poised to be a cornerstone of Chicago’s future alongside rising stars Kamilla Cardoso, Gabriela Jaquez, and Rickea Jackson. Beyond the regular season, Taylor will continue to showcase her skills in January, having signed on to compete in the 3-on-3 league Unrivaled.
