Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark has made her intentions clear amid looming contract discussions: she plans to remain with the team regardless of financial outcomes. The three-time All-Star, who led the league as 2024 Rookie of the Year, emphasized her commitment to building a championship-caliber roster in Indiana, following three consecutive first-round playoff exits.
Clark’s focus on team success comes as she faces a pivotal decision under the WNBA’s new EPIC extension clause, which allows eligible players to renegotiate their rookie deals for accelerated max and supermax salaries. With her All-WNBA First Team selection from her rookie season, Clark could earn the projected max of $1.3 million in 2027 or the supermax of $1.7 million in 2028 if she signs a three-year extension.
She has not yet discussed the offer with the front office, instead prioritizing roster construction and daily golf sessions during the offseason. The Fever’s recent signing of Aliyah Boston—a four-year, $6.3 million extension following her 2025 All-WNBA Second Team nod—sets a precedent for Clark’s potential path to the league’s highest salaries.
Meanwhile, fellow EPIC-eligible stars Angel Reese and Paige Bueckers are also poised to enter similar negotiations in the coming years.
