The Los Angeles Dodgers face a steep climb after falling into a 2-0 hole in the National League Championship Series against the Milwaukee Brewers, who have dominated with strong pitching. The Dodgers’ rotation has been disrupted by injuries, with Tarik Skubal and Yoshinobu Yamamoto sidelined, forcing a heavier reliance on Blake Snell and Tyler Glasnow.
Snell, who struggled in the NLDS with five walks over 3 ⅔ innings, must rebound from that performance to avoid further setbacks. His dominance from last postseason—including a one-hit, 10-strikeout outing in Milwaukee—shows he’s capable of turning things around, but another shaky start could hand the Brewers a commanding 3-0 series lead.
Glasnow, meanwhile, must extend his outings beyond his first playoff appearance, where he allowed just one run over 13 outs but failed to go deep enough to ease the bullpen’s burden. The Dodgers’ offense is also in crisis, with Shohei Ohtani and Will Smith providing little production.
Ohtani, batting .157 since late August and homerless since mid-August, has been shifted out of the leadoff spot, while Smith’s neck injury has limited his impact, including a costly defensive miscue in Game 2 that allowed Brice Turang to double and score the tying run. Without a resurgence from their top stars, the Dodgers risk becoming spectators to the Brewers’ first World Series trip since 1982 at Dodger Stadium.
