Brighton and Hove Albion delivered a clinical demolition of Crystal Palace in a Premier League clash, cruising to a 5-0 victory at the AMEX Stadium. The Seagulls overwhelmed their hosts from the outset, carving out a 3-0 lead inside the first 10 minutes.
The opening goal came courtesy of an own goal by Jaydee Canvot, set up by Pascal Gross, before Diego Gomez stunned onlookers with a breathtaking strike from the halfway line in the seventh minute. Yasin Ayari then sealed the early dominance with a third, extending Brighton’s control before the half-hour mark had passed.
Palace failed to recover after the break, as Brighton added two more goals in quick succession. Charalampos Kostoulas doubled their lead just three minutes into the second half, while substitute Jack Hinshelwood rounded off the rout with a late fifth.
The result marks a significant turnaround for Brighton boss Fabian Hurzeler, who was booed off the pitch in this fixture last season when Palace won 1-0. With 16 points from their first seven games, Brighton have established themselves as a formidable force in the Premier League race.
