A court filing in the ongoing discrimination suit filed by former coaches Brian Flores, Steve Wilks and Ray Horton reveals a recruiting memo from Korn Ferry that contained stereotypical language about Black head‑coach candidates. The document, unsealed in a Tuesday hearing, described Flores as “polished and a good presenter despite growing up in Brownsville, Brooklyn (same as Mike Tyson)” and included remarks that his “polish upwards” suggested a racial bias.
Flores’s lawyer Michael Willemin said the memo portrays him as an “angry Black man” and highlighted other negative characterizations such as limited people skills and erratic behavior. The lawsuit targets the NFL and six teams, alleging that such biased talking points reflect systemic discrimination in hiring decisions.
The memo was obtained by Front Office Sports and released as part of the legal proceedings.
