Brentford still unbeaten after Ajer levels at Villa

Brentford held off Aston Villa in a thrilling 2-2 draw at Villa Park, preserving their unbeaten Premier League record after six matches. The Bees took the lead early through Yehor Yarmoliuk’s goal after Tyrone Mings’ defensive error, but Villa equalized within minutes via Nicolas Jackson’s deflected strike following Emi Buendia’s shot.

Villa regained the lead in the 77th minute when John McGinn’s deflected effort beat the Brentford goalkeeper, but Kristoffer Ajer’s late burst down the left flank restored parity just two minutes later, sealing a point for Keith Andrews’ side. Villa’s struggles continued under Unai Emery, who saw key players like Matteo Ruggeri and Kevin Schade leave the field with injuries, while Brentford’s Jannik Schuster was also substituted at half-time.

Andrews expressed disappointment at missing further chances in the final stretch, though the result keeps Brentford in the top four after a strong start to the season.
