Blaze win One-Day Cup in last-ball thriller

Hampshire posted just over 250 in the One-Day Cup final, anchored by Ella McCaughan's 78 and a brisk 52 off 46 deliveries from Freya Kemp after Maia Bouchier was caught at long-on off Lucy Higham and Georgia Adams fell softly. The innings unravelled from 166-2 as Grace Ballinger trapped McCaughan leg-before, Higham finished with 4-49 by having Kemp stumped, and Charley Phillips collected 3-38, aided by Kirstie Gordon's economical 10-over return of 1-39 and a brilliant diving grab to dismiss Naomi Dattani before Daisy Gibb and Poppy Tulloch closed out the innings.

The Blaze began their chase strongly through Tammy Beaumont and Sarah Bryce, but Amanda-Jade Wellington rattled the chase by removing both Bryce sisters in one over, with Adams taking a low slip catch to dismiss Kathryn Bryce. Despite missed chances in the field by Kemp and wicketkeeper Rhianna Southby, Beaumont reached a 75-ball half-century before Wellington pinned her lbw, while Georgia Elwiss brought up her own fifty prior to falling to Finty Tyson (2-46) with 51 still needed.

Hampshire appeared poised for victory, but Michaela Jones struck two boundaries in the 49th over bowled by Dattani and held her nerve to seal the title on the final ball despite Higham being run out with three runs remaining.
