The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has delayed its crucial IPL review meeting, originally set for October 15, 2026, at the Taj Santacruz in Mumbai. The gathering, intended to unite franchise owners, CEOs, broadcasters, and representatives from the 13 state associations hosting IPL games, has been postponed indefinitely due to scheduling conflicts.
BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia announced the change via email on October 13, citing two primary reasons: the presence of BCCI officials at a national felicitation ceremony for India’s men’s and women’s cricket teams in New Delhi on the same day, and requests from stakeholders for more time. The ceremony honors the teams’ performances at the recently concluded 20th Asian Games, requiring key officials to attend in person.
Additionally, the postponement coincides with a busy international schedule for India’s men’s team, which is midway through a five-match T20I series against the West Indies, with the fourth game set for October 14 in Hyderabad and the fifth on October 17 in Bengaluru. The meeting’s deferral leaves its revised date and location uncertain, though the BCCI has promised updates in the coming days.
The conclave’s postponement is notable as the IPL prepares for its 20th season in 2027, marking a pivotal moment for the league’s future direction and governance.
