Defending champion Xander Schauffele returns to Yokohama Country Club for the Baycurrent Classic, aiming to reclaim his title after a dominant 2023 victory. The tournament, running from October 8–11, features a unique layout with 13 par-4 holes—including a mix of short (337-yard) and long (508-yard) par 4s—alongside just two par 5s and three par 3s.
Schauffele’s 2023 win came after an even-par opening round, with a final-round 64 securing a one-stroke victory over Max Greyserman. This year’s field includes standout performers like Wyndham Clark (three wins in 2026), Hideki Matsuyama, Collin Morikawa, and recent champion Jacob Bridgeman, all poised to test their ability to navigate the course’s demanding par 4s.
The layout’s design—with 16 holes from the West Course and two from the East—creates a scoring challenge where precision and adaptability are key, especially given the course’s tendency to shift with wind conditions. Last year’s final round averaged a scoring differential of 67.72, underscoring how the same holes can play drastically differently depending on conditions.
