Babar Azam achieved a significant career milestone during the opening match of the tri-series against Sri Lanka on Sunday. By reaching 16,000 international runs, he became the fifth Pakistani cricketer to accomplish this feat, joining an elite group that includes Inzamam-ul-Haq, Younis Khan, Mohammad Yousuf, and Javed Miandad.
He reached this total in his 355th international appearance. During the match, Sri Lanka chose to field first, and Pakistan faced early pressure as Dilshan Madushanka claimed the wickets of Saim Ayub and Fakhar Zaman.
Babar Azam then partnered with Saad Baig to stabilize the innings.
