Australian Open's 1 Point Slam has Alcaraz, Osaka and Sinner signed up for January's event

October 8, 2026

The Australian Open’s 1 Point Slam returns in January with a star-studded lineup, featuring top-ranked professionals like Carlos Alcaraz, Naomi Osaka, and Jannik Sinner alongside amateur and wildcard competitors. The event, set to take place on January 13 at Rod Laver Arena, offers a $1 million prize pool, with matches decided in a knockout format where every duel hinges on a single point.

Last year’s winner, Jordan Smith, a local amateur, stunned the tennis world by defeating Sinner and securing the championship on the third stroke of the final, becoming an overnight millionaire. Qualifying rounds are already underway across Australia, with additional sessions scheduled during the tournament’s opening week ahead of the main event running from January 17 to 31.

The unique format has drawn attention from global figures, including Taiwanese pop star Jay Chou, who was eliminated without touching a ball after an ace from Petar Jovic. Organizers aim to deepen the Australian Open’s connection to local tennis communities while expanding facilities, including increased seating and shade, to accommodate the growing fanbase expected for 2026.
