The Atlanta Dream are on the brink of their first WNBA Finals appearance since 2013, having clinched two playoff wins and now just two more victories away from advancing. Their path to the championship, however, could face logistical hurdles due to scheduling conflicts at their current home venue, State Farm Arena.
The arena, which has hosted the team’s postseason games this year, is unavailable for all three potential home dates in a hypothetical Finals series. A Sombr concert is booked for October 22, overlapping with Game 3, while the NBA’s Atlanta Hawks are scheduled for home games on October 24 and 29, blocking Games 4 and 6.
The Dream have not yet confirmed an alternative venue, though a spokesperson assured they would share details soon if they advance past the New York Liberty in the semifinals. Meanwhile, a potential Finals opponent, the Golden State Valkyries, has already resolved a similar conflict by rescheduling a Doja Cat concert to accommodate Game 2 at Chase Center on October 19, ensuring their home-court advantage remains intact if they reach the Finals.
Beyond the Finals uncertainty, the Dream announced a multi-year deal to relocate all home games to State Farm Arena starting next season, citing fan demand and stadium capacity as key factors in the decision. The team has sold out every game at their previous home, Gateway Center Arena, over the past three years, and the move aims to expand attendance while maintaining the high-energy atmosphere that has defined their recent success.
The Dream’s playoff run continues with a commanding 2-0 lead in their semifinal series against the Liberty, setting the stage for a potential Finals showdown.
