Pranavi Urs, a 23-year-old golfer from Mysuru, has returned from the Asian Games as the first Indian woman to secure an individual gold medal in the sport. She also contributed to a team silver medal finish alongside Aditi and Diksha Dagar.
Urs used the platform to challenge the perception that golf is exclusively a wealthy pursuit, arguing that the sport is more accessible than many outsiders believe. She emphasized that any medal at this level brings necessary global attention to Indian golf, a goal she prioritizes over personal accolades.
Urs highlighted the rapid growth of women's golf, noting that the number of Indian players with full status on the Ladies European Tour has increased from one or two to five in just a few years. Her own career recently reached a new milestone in December 2025 when she became the first Indian woman to win a professional open-field tournament against male competitors at the IGPL Invitational Mumbai, where she shot a final round of 60 to win by two strokes.
Aditi Ashok, who won individual silver at the 2023 Hangzhou Games and has five LET titles, remains a key inspiration for Urs, who views her senior as the greatest golfer in India.
