Arsenal's injured Caldentey out for up to 10 weeks

Arsenal midfielder **Mariona Caldentey** faces an eight-to-ten-week recovery from a hamstring injury sustained during the club’s 4-2 Women’s Super League defeat at Manchester City on October 4. The Spain international, who joined from Barcelona two years ago and was named WSL Player of the Year for 2024-25, will miss a significant portion of the season, including Arsenal’s upcoming fixture against Birmingham City on Saturday.

Manager **René Slegers** confirmed the severity of the injury, noting that Caldentey exited the match early and was unavailable for Spain’s recent call-up, with scans showing progress but no immediate timeline for a return. The setback compounds Arsenal’s struggles, as they sit 10th in the league after winning just one of their first five games, while also dealing with the absence of England forward **Chloe Kelly** and German signing **Selina Cerci**, who underwent knee surgery and is also sidelined for an extended period.
