Alex Tuch has 2 goals and an assist in the Capitals' win over the Canadiens

October 18, 2026

The Washington Capitals continued their strong start to the season with a 4-2 victory over the New Jersey Devils, securing back-to-back wins. Ryan Leonard stole the show with a dazzling goal, while Alex Tuch contributed with two goals and an assist, including a key play setting up Dylan Strome’s second-period tally.

The Devils, now at 4-4-0, fell behind early when Arsenal Gritsyuk scored, but Leonard’s highlight-reel goal shifted momentum, and the Capitals dominated the rest of the game with goals from Ilya Protas and Strome in quick succession. Vincent Desharnais added two assists, rounding out a dominant offensive performance for Washington.

Elsewhere, the Carolina Hurricanes extended their winning streak to seven with a 3-2 win over the Winnipeg Jets. Nikolaj Ehlers scored the game-sealer on a power play, while Mark Jankowski and Jesperi Kotkaniemi added goals for the Hurricanes.

Winnipeg’s home loss marked their first regulation defeat of the season, with Mark Scheifele and Alex Iafallo scoring for the Jets. Tampa Bay’s Nikita Kucherov and Jake Guentzel led the Lightning to a 4-2 win over the Canucks, who remain winless on their current road trip.

Vancouver’s struggles continued as they dropped their fifth straight game, while the Florida Panthers dominated the Kraken with an 8-3 victory, though details on the game’s specifics were not provided.
