49ers sign veteran WR with nearly 10,000 career receiving yards

The San Francisco 49ers are bringing in experienced pass-catcher Brandin Cooks to their practice squad after mounting injuries depleted their receiver group. Head coach Kyle Shanahan confirmed the team must bring in outside help following health setbacks to Demarcus Robinson and Mike Evans during Sunday's victory, which left the squad with only three active healthy targets.

Cooks previously played for the New Orleans Saints and Buffalo Bills, logging 279 yards across fifteen regular-season appearances last year. The receiving corps has also dealt with several other long-term roster absences, including Ricky Pearsall missing the entire season due to a knee surgery and Christian Kirk currently sidelined on injured reserve with a calf problem.
