The San Francisco 49ers have activated defensive lineman Mykel Williams off the reserve/physically unable to perform list, clearing the way for his return to the active roster. Williams, who suffered a season-ending ACL tear and meniscus damage in November during a game against the New York Giants, will make his debut in Sunday’s matchup against the Seattle Seahawks.
His injury cut short his rookie campaign after nine appearances, during which he contributed 20 tackles and a sack. To accommodate Williams’ activation, the team re-signed defensive lineman Ogbo Okoronkwo to the practice squad after cutting him from the active roster.
Okoronkwo, who had previously appeared in four games with one start, was elevated alongside tight end Jack Stoll for Sunday’s game, where he recorded two tackles and a sack in limited action.
