18.8 million watched Cowboys-Eagles on Monday night

Despite both teams entering the contest with a combined 4-8 record, the Week 7 Monday night matchup between Dallas and Philadelphia attracted 18.8 million viewers. ESPN reported that more than one million of those fans tuned into alternative broadcasts on ESPN2 and NFL Network.

The football game faced direct competition from Game 3 of the World Series, which aired on Fox. While Fox has not released viewership figures for that specific game, the first two games of the series drew 12.259 million and 10.854 million viewers respectively.

The NFL has increasingly scheduled games against the World Series since 2010, moving away from its historical practice of avoiding such conflicts.
