"It's not antics, it's passion" - Carmelo Anthony explains why Angel Reese is misunderstood

Angel Reese’s journey to the WNBA Finals with the Atlanta Dream has been marked by a career of dominance, yet her path has often been overshadowed by misconceptions about her personality. A four-time champion—from AAU and high school to college and the FIBA World Cup—Reese’s track record speaks for itself, yet critics have frequently dismissed her as more concerned with her public image than the game itself.

Hall of Famer Carmelo Anthony, however, reframes her boldness as passion, rooted in the competitive fire of growing up in a working-class family where athletic excellence was non-negotiable. Reese’s arrival in Atlanta, where the Dream finished as the top team in the East last season (30-14), has unlocked her full potential, culminating in a Defensive Player of the Year award and a Finals berth—a stark contrast to her time in Chicago, where she struggled in a losing environment.
